THE CORROSIVE INFLUENCE OF PERMISSIVENESS?

Permissiveness pervades society at large. Is the Church holding fast to biblical principles?

It is not clear how the sponsors of the seminar propose to deal with the subject; but the very fact that two days are to be devoted to the subject at a time when there is increasing acceptance by some churches that homosexuality is a natural condition which is not a sin causes apprehension. Would similar attention be given to heterosexual adulterers and fornicators, or thieves, or liars, or other violators of the Commandments of God? There was a time when the universal mission of the true Christian church was to preach the gospel of salvation from sin, which of necessity involves the condemnation of sin. The preaching of the gospel should properly preclude involvement with political activism against the LBGT rights movement, especially activism which approves of laws condemning homosexuals to death, such as are proposed in some African countries like Uganda. The imposition of the death penalty for sin is the prerogative of a theocracy which is under the control and direction of the true God, such as existed in Ancient Israel. There has never been such a nation since then; nor can there ever be again when the whole world is in rebellion against the precepts of God.

The Apostle Paul has stated the Truth of God on the subject of homosexuality with absolute clarity:

Romans 1:

²⁶For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: ²⁷And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.

1 Cor. 6:

⁹Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, ¹⁰Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. ¹¹And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Let us face the spiritual reality: homosexuality is a corruption of humanity by Satan, who has a malevolent hatred of mankind who were made in the image of God. Where genetic factors are involved, the subject may be beyond redemption, although it is not for fellow human beings to judge whether or not the individual has the potential to overcome. God is the judge. However, it is not the Church's mission to make the sinner comfortable in his or her sin, but to call sinner's to repentance. Nothing less that the individual's eternal destiny is at stake; and if those who will not or cannot repent are made to feel uncomfortable by the preaching of the gospel of salvation from sin, it is a price to be paid for the salvation in God's eternal kingdom of those who will repent. One is aghast at the so-called "Christian" churches which dismiss or rationalize the abundance of scriptural testimony against homosexuality, and appalled by the presumption of radio and television "talking heads" who make bold to attack the Bible passages which proscribe this unnatural practice.

The flaunting of unnatural practices in today's world, while falling short of the aggressiveness of ancient Sodom and Gomorrah, is probably yet another predictor of the imminence of God's judgments upon a rebellious world which flouts the principles of righteousness and life eternal.
